“This Is Now”

“This Is Now” is a tri-gallery exhibition of the Visual Arts Network featuring work created within the last two years that depicts what is current and of our time. The work is all media with themes that inform political and environmental climates, culture, and adopt new materials, application, or cutting-edge techniques. The exhibition features nearly 400 original works of art in all media from 150+ artists throughout Santa Cruz County. “This Is Now” is divided by artists’ last names amongst  three commercial galleries: A - F : Radius Gallery (Tannery Arts Center), G - O : Blitzer Gallery (westside in the Wrigley Building), P - Z :  Curated by the Sea (downtown).

In 2020, Arts Council Santa Cruz County launched a new program called the Visual Arts Network. At the height of the pandemic, it became a way for artists to still be visible to their buyers and stay connected with their peers. “This Is Now” features current members of the online directory (VAN). The exhibition will offer five awards: “Curators’ Pick,” “People’s Choice” and “Best in Show.” Each venue will host an Artist Reception announcing the Curators’ Pick on Saturdays 2-4pm. “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice” will be announced on First Friday, April 1st. “This Is Now” is on exhibition March 4 - April 9, 2022. 

“This is Now” is a partnership with Arts Council Santa Cruz County, Radius Gallery, R. Blitzer Gallery, and Curated by the Sea.
